Do You Want an EcoTheme
Welcome to EcoTheme.com! This is really a pretty simple idea. The Nature Conservancy has teamed up with two of the web’s largest environmental blogs, EcoGeek.org and EnvironmentalGraffiti.com, to produce a few attractive, usable, SEO friendly themes with nature in mind.
Each of these themes has a few things going for it.
- The Nature Conservancy will be using an area on each of these sites to promote conservation efforts throughout the future.
- New environmental stories will appear in an RSS widget regularly in the sidebar.
- Adsense ads on the page feed a fund that will be given directly (without any exceptions) to carbon offset firm in order to ensure that all sites running ecothemes are not just carbon neutral, they’re actually eliminating more carbon than they consume!
- They’re environmentally inspired. Each theme, Alaska, Grassland and Treewoks are all inspired by nature…bringing the environment to your website like never before.
Hank Green, who, along with Chris Ingham Brooke, conceived of the EcoTheme project is pretty excited about the whole thing.
Mostly I just can’t wait to see where these themes end up. I know they’re good-looking and functional (I designed them myself) and I’m proud of the inspiration behind the project. Oh…and I also really wanted to put in a block quote so everyone could see what that looked like.
The EcoTheme project is officially launching in the next few weeks. So we’re sad to say that the themes aren’t yet ready for download. But don’t worry…we’ll be at a WordPress Theme site near you in a matter of days.
